How to Re-use Content on Social Media.

Content for social media doesn’t have to be newly created each time. You may not realise it, but content is often readily available, it just needs to be reused in another way.

Firstly, let’s not confuse reusing material with reposting. We recommend looking at evergreen content that you have already – this won’t date and can be used in many new creative ways.

Plan! Create a list of ideas for stats, facts, quotes, infographics, videos etc. to compliment your content’s key message. People absorb information differently, so when you recreate content in different formats, you are also increasing your audience reach.

All the inspiration you need is already at your finger tips:

The company website
Your website is full of content that you can easily share. Start with feedback from Google Analytics, which will indicate what your most popular pages are. This could be anything such as information about where to avail of a product or service, FAQ’s, a visitor’s guide, or how to make an appointment, the list is endless, just get creative!

Advertising Campaigns
Build content from a post that performed well previously. If you find one post has received a lot of traffic and interaction, why not build on this and nurture your audience with more useful information.

Use different platforms to reach different Audiences
The same person who follows you on Facebook may not see your new company brochure. This gives you the option to reach your existing audience from a new angle.

Blog Posts
Blog posts can be anything from a news item to general product statistics. They also take a long time to complete and can often be lonely on your website if they aren’t shared with the world. Make it easy for your audience to find your blog posts by sharing them on your social media platforms.

Newsletters
This often gets associated with a targeted members list, but this does not have to be the case. Share links to particular articles in the newsletter or use sections of it to create an infographic. You may even encourage people to sign up to your mailing list.

Some fun ideas to recreate content:

  1. Ask a Question, encourage people to comment on your post.
  2. Use a Quote, this gives validation to your overall promise.
  3. Write a Teasing Statement to encourage increased click-through rates.
  4. Get creative with images, use text to overlay an image.
  5. Try an infographic!
  6. Post a Video…. did you know Facebook generates 8 billion video views on average per day! (www.forbes.com)
  7. Inform your audience with Fun Facts.
  8. Lead with statements such as “Who,” “What,” “When,” and “How.”.
